The Oconomowoc Quilters' Guild is involved in many projects
throughout Waukesha County and beyond!
Some of these projects include the following:
- Quilts of Valor
It's mission it is "...to cover Service Members and Veterans touched by war"... with a quality, handmade quilt that can either be machine or hand quilted. The quilts are awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war, and "...says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.” For more information, please go to our QOV webpage by clicking HERE.
- Quilt Raffle
We raise money to participate in these community service projects by creating and raffling off a quilt each year.
The raffle drawing for the 2025 Quilt, "Fans & Flowers" will be held during our regular meeting on October 16, 2025, at 8:00 PM.
- Comfort Quilts,
Another of our community service committees creates and distributes Comfort Quilts. The primary goal of this committee is to create quilts for distribution to local charities and people in need.- We choose two Focus Projects each year. Past projects include giving quilts to the Waukesha Women's Center, wheelchair quilts for a local care facility, the VA HopTel, and Project Linus.
- The Guild has also provided quilts for Christmas baskets, local school districts, fire victims and ill individuals.
We average over 100 quilts given throughout the year!
- Book Bags for the Book Head Organization (Waukesha County)
- Instructions Dog Beds
- We now have three facilities that will take dog beds
- Save your scrap fabric and thread cuttings (be sure there are no sharps!)
- Fill a pillowcase and sew shut
- Pillow cases also available at meetings, see a committee member
Another cool project we do is to provide ribbons to the 4-H entrants!
Here are the ribbons that were awarded to the 2023 entrants.
